May 2023 - Our paper “I'm a little less inclined to do it”: How Afterschool Programs’ Culture Impact Co-Design Processes and Outcomes.” was accepted for publication at the ACM Conference for Designing Interactive Systems.

May 2023 - Jared Lim will be joining the lab as a Masters student starting in the Fall of 2023. Jared has an undergraduate degree in Informatics from the University of Washington in Seattle. He most recently worked as an undergraduate research assistant studying metacognitive behaviors in novice programmers and computer science students at the Code and Cognition Lab at UW.

April 2023 - Our paper “What’s your name again?: How Race and Gender Dynamics Impact Codesign Processes and Output” was accepted for publication at the ACM Transactions of Human-Computer Interaction.

April 2023 - CS Ambassadors Program launches in the following Afterschool programs: Ivy Prep, Kindezi Old Fourth Ward, The Kindezi School at Old Fourth Ward, and The Kindezi School West

March 2023 - Our paper “Comparative Design-Based Research: How Afterschool Programs Impact Learners’ Engagement with Video Game Codesign” was accepted for publication at The International Conference of the Learning Sciences (ICLS).

February 2023 - Jane Awuah will be joining the lab as a Ph.D. student starting in the Fall of 2023. Jane has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Kwame Nkrumah University in Ghana and a masters in Applied Machine Learning and Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University. She has interned at the World Bank, has education technology research experience, and most recently worked as a fulltime software engineer.
